Winnebagoland Division NMRA Model
and Photo Contest Entry Forms.

Entering a Winnebagoland
Division NMRA Model or Photo Contest is easy and fun. Most importantly you will be able to learn
from the experience how to create more realistic models or become a better
photographer. Remember that in an NMRA
Contest, you are not being judged against other entrants. Instead, your work is
being graded using an approved NMRA judging matrix.
We hold these contests
during our spring and fall meets. You
will have the chance to display your model and/or photos and slides in a secure
room watched over by our team of judges and the WLD Model Contest Chairman for
each category.
It is suggested that you
download the proper forms before entering.

these forms in advance to enter, it just makes it easier!
You DO NOT need to be an NMRA
member to enter one of our contests, but no merit points will be earned by non-members
as related to the NMRA Achievement Program.
The WLD has several ways for
you to get involved even if you are not interested in having your work
judged.
1. We
have a "Display Only" area for models which may have won awards in
the past or whose owners do not want their models judged via the NMRA matrix.
2. Regardless
of NMRA points earned, all models are eligible for the Popular Vote Award which
is named after the late Don Steffen, a prolific modeler from our division. This plaque recognizes the outstanding work a
modeler does judged by his or her peers via a ballot. It's a
great way to be recognized by your fellow model railroaders and another
possible award to win.
3. The
model which earns the highest point total in the judged NMRA Contest wins the
Richard Eggert Award. This plaque honors
the memory of another of our best modelers who passed away too soon.
4. Finally,
during our WLD Fall Meet, we hold a popular vote contest for railroad-related
items which don't fall into either the model or photo contest realm. This could be a craft item, baked item, or
artistic item which is railroad-themed. The
winner of this contest is awarded the Sharon Williamson Award for outstanding
craftsmanship. The WLD is honored to
keep
Remember, these contests and NMRA Merit Judging happen each spring and fall
during our meets. You will be
surprised at what you will learn and the new friends you will make by
participating in them.
